Getting the Parker House Ready for Sale

Well we are back into the role of getting bids and coordinating sub's.

We are getting the Parker house ready for sale.

Over the last couple of weeks we have been moving items up to Pinon Rock and filling one stall of the garage with "stuff" that we will sell during the All Stonegate Garage Sale.

I thought we had gotten rid of most of our garbage 4 years ago when we moved from Minnesota, but the it appears that we have accumulated a whole new layer. Some even appears to have been moved with us from Minni.

We also have one "un-named item" that always seems to sit at the back of the closet, that has made the move from Minneapolis to Omaha to Eagan to Parker and still when I asked about throwing it out the answer was no we may use it sometime, so it will move with us again to Pinon Rock.

The Real Estate Agent has gone through the house with us and the items we will be doing before selling is pretty much what we had planned on:

  • Paint the basement, Master Bedroom, bath and some high traffic areas.
  • Paint the trim on the exterior. House had been painted in 2002 and has a three color scheme where the lightest trim color has not held up as well as expected.
  • Re-carpet. Even though we re-carpeted in 2003 the color Marlys and I picked out is bad.
  • Re-finish the hardwood floors.
  • Replace and windows with broken seals (fogged).

The interior painting was finished yesterday and the exterior painting is scheduled to start tomorrow. Carpet measuring is scheduled for Friday, along with the windows. The floor re-finishing will be from done between 4/2-6.

The good news is that we will be moving our hot tub to Pinon Rock. We bought the tube in 2004 and it is a top of the line Beachcomber. We have been real pleased with it and had planned on buying the same thing for the Rock. According to the REA the tub would only add a few thousand to the house so we have decided to excluded it and move it. I contacted the tub movers and it will cost in the range of $500 to disconnect move and reset at PR. We had the electrical run and the concrete poured in anticipation of this last year, so this will another project for this summer.

We hope to list the house right around 4/15. If we sell it by the end of summer we will be happy.
